Pam Broughton, social worker, on the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology floor at BI-LO Children's Charities Cancer Center, gets to know the patients and their families very well over the month/years that they receive treatments. Because of all the added expenses, including time away from work to care for the child, some families need extra assistance. Pam already helps the parents find funds from other local organizations, so if a special need arises that cannot be met through other sources, Clements Kindness can be of assistance and she steps in to make the grant request. The beauty of our program is that there is no red tape. The Community Foundation can quickly fund the request through Clements Kindness.

In our first year, 2006-2007 we funded 62 grants totaling 27,501.36. This year, through September 2011, we have funded 176 request totaling 97,274.23. Clements Kindness was founded on the principal of assisting families during their most critical time in ways that are not met by other organizations. Dr Carey Stroud says that there is no other organization in the country that meets this special need.Through your generous support we have tripled our gifts since 2006-2007!
